The Matrix 12 has the big 5" diagonal, high-resolution, 240V x 240H LCD display you want¿The larger display also show you more history, so you have a better idea of the bottom. The 20 degree single beam sonar is optimized for precision coverage of bottom and structure detail, showing you an area of the bottom equal to 1/3 you depth. Choose Selective Fish ID+ to see fish marked as fish symbols, or view actual sonar returns of targets. Add a GPS receiver to show position, mark hot spots, routes and more. Finally, with the Tilt & Swivel Quick Disconnect Mounting System you can remove and reinstall your Matrix without reattaching cables. I've had this product for quite some time now, and I have to say that I have enjoyed it a lot. Besides this, the product fulfilled my expectations completely. I've found that if I don't do this, the unit will never finish the auto-adjust process and it will switch to test-mode after some time.I can't be sure if this is a malfunction or is the normal procedure of the unit, since I've never had one of these before.
It helps by telling you where is the fish, depth, speed, etc. Maybe I got a broken unit. The feeling of combining technology and nature makes for a great outdoors experience, and this gadget -while not the best you can find out there- has an excellent adaptability and capacity to add more functionality -like a GPS- which makes for an excellent price/benefit relation.I have to say that using this fish finder I've caught some fish that I couldn't have otherwise.
However, the manual says nothing about this "need for speed" when turning on the unit. It wont get the fish for you, but it will give you eyes under the water.My only complaint would be that when you turn it on, goes through some sort of auto-adjust process that takes some time to finish. The problem is not the time it takes, but that I have to make the boat go very fast for a while until the unit settles down and starts working properly.
Can't answer that of course, but as I said, it's my only complaint. I can't wait to plug a GPS on it.
